We are LOVING summer and in our opinion there’s no better place to be during these months than on the water in Rhode Island. With that, we are continuing our trend of exploring our beautiful ocean with August’s Rhode Explorer event… Quahogging! That’s right ladies we are getting our feet wet and working for our dinner. Neither Heather, Joanna nor myself have ever partaken in the Rhode Island tradition so we are pumped to try it out! To help us along, we have teamed up with the shell fisherman guru of Rhode Island – Mr. Jody King; he and his team are gearing us up and teaching us the ways of collecting these tasty treats of the water.
Did you know as resident Rhode Islanders we’re allowed to go out and fill your bucket with as many as 200 little necks EVERYDAY for free!?! Those that have worked with Mr. King in a session such as this have walked away with buckets full! Absolutely zero experience is required so mark your calendars and tell the fam to get ready for clams because momma, daughter, sista, grand-daughter whoever you are (and will be feeding) is coming home with some clams!
Mr. King has checked the tide schedules and recommended August 29th at 12:00pm for our event; price is $28 and includes all of the equipment necessary for clamming – except for personal shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen. Can’t wait to see you all there! We will be meeting at Ninigret Wildlife Refuge in Charlestown, RI; further details will be emailed to participants a few days before the event.
Purchase your ticket at our online store and as always, feel free to email us with any questions,
Have a fabulous week,
Elizabeth, Joanna & Heather
